Coach Melanie Donahoo is a 1990 graduate of Oak Hill Academy in West Point, Mississippi, where she played on both the varsity volleyball team and the varsity basketball team. She played on the 1990 State Championship basketball team and was named All-Conference and All-State her 10th, 11th, and 12th grade seasons. Upon graduation from Oak Hill Academy, Coach Donahoo attended The University of Alabama in Huntsville on a basketball scholarship and played for the Lady Chargers for four years. She graduated from UAH in 1995 with a double major in English and History.

After graduating from UAH, Coach Donahoo began her successful teaching and coaching career at Whitesburg Middle School in Huntsville, Alabama. In addition to her teaching duties, Coach Donahoo "coached" the boys' basketball team for two years, the girls' basketball team for one year, and the volleyball team for four years.

In 2000, Coach Donahoo transferred to Huntsville High School teaching English and serving as the Varsity Coach of the basketball team. Joining the Lady Panther Volleyball Team as Head Coach in 2002, Coach Donahoo successfully led the Lady Panthers to a record breaking 79-7 season in 2002. The Lady Panther Volleyball Team has won four consecutive 5A State Championships (2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005) followed by two consecutive State Championship at the 6A level in 2006 and 2007. Additionally, Coach Donahoo was voted by her peers as the 2002 Alabama Coach of the Year, the 2002 Huntsville City Coach of the Year, and the 2003 Huntsville City Co-Coach of the Year. Coach Donahoo was selected to be the North All-Star Volleyball Coach for the 2003 Alabama High School All-Star Sports Week.

Huntsville High School advanced to the 6A arena in 2006. Under Coach Donahoo's supervision, HHS looks forward to another great Volleyball season in 2008!!
